Ang ganda po ng pelikula. It's not perfect, but it was definitely worth my time and money. I like it because the story was authentic, realistic, and not overdone. Sana po i-release niyo po ang DVD nitong pelikula soon para paulit-ulit kong panoorin sa bahay. Hehehe. Kulit lang. :) By the way, may chemistry si Piolo and Sarah. Ang ganda rin nang acting nilang dalawa. :)

Is most of the same and that is great. The movie is very funny… It fell flat at some jokes but nevertheless the fun was there. The Jurassic Park homage was the funniest thing ever… “They move in herds.”… “They should’ve bring a poet.”… And the next time I go to a lawyers office I will see if they have candy…

It is a movie about 20 year old guys. So there will be crude sex jokes. If your good with American pie or van wilder, you'll be fine. but it is more of a guy movie :-)

The Longest Ride 2015

The Longest Ride 2015 GMPN Review

GMPN Rating: 9/10
Category: Romance, Drama

Two Excellent stories in One This is an extraordinary film that is almost two features in one. My wife and I (oldsters, but still in glorious married Love) saw it as a date film and enjoyed it immensely. It is two stories of enduring Love- one in modern day, the other in the past (1940s to present), which intertwine through the chance meeting of Ira Levinsen (Alan Alda) who is in a car crash, with Luke and Sophie who are on a first date. Their subsequent friendship changes all their lives. Sophie saves a box of love letters from the crash, the reading aloud of which provide the narrative (a common Nicholas Sparks theme) for interweaving the two very different worlds together. The acting was superb, Scott's portrayal of Luke was spot on for rodeo cowboys - a stoic bunch. Britt Robertson's charming young "Sophie" was sweet, but tough. Alan Alda was priceless, as usual, but the two who really stand out are; Oona Chaplin as young Ruth Levinsen, and Jack Huston as young Ira. The period is amazingly presented and their acting just makes it sumptuous. Two complaints that some reviewers find wrong with these types of film are - not enough realism (read overt sex and Violence) and happy endings. This movie is guilty of both. We left the Theater feeling emotionally spent and happy. As Christian Slater said in Bed of Roses: " There's no such thing as too much perfection"

Woman in Gold 2015

Woman in Gold 2015 GMPN Review

Category: Drama
GMPN Rating: 8/10
Actors: 10/10

The Woman in Gold is based on the true story about a woman, Maria Altmann (Helen Mirren), and her lawyer, Randol Schoenberg (Ryan Reynolds), as they attempt to reclaim ownership of an extremely valuable painting (along with a few more) form the Austrian government nearly fifty years after it was stolen by the Nazis. This film has three distinct parts that intertwine through the duration of the show. First, there is a family dynamic that focuses on the emotional stress of the current situation on everyone's personal lives. There is a strong connection between Randol and Maria that grows over time and is given time to grow in these segments. Second, there are flashbacks that dive deeper into Maria's past and emphasize the importance of the artwork as well as explore parallels between the past and the present. Finally there is the trial itself, which is where the action of the conflict lies. This is the least important, yet still necessary part of the story. The percentage of time given to these segments would be around 40/40/20, respectively. While you might be surprised how much of the story takes place in the past, it really does drive the plot. There are many white-knuckle scenes and heart wrenching moments that really add to the film. The past is just as important as the present in this movie, and that is exactly what the film is trying to say. Helen Mirren, as always, was amazing in this film. She was subtle and drove many of the scenes that required raw emotion. Ryan Reynolds was also very good and his role in this film might have been his best performance (from what I have seen). Actually, all of the actors did a fantastic job here. Everyone was on there A-Game and gave it everything they had. There was great chemistry between Mirren and Reynolds which made their characters' connection even more compelling. Reynolds was able to subtly change his character as the case slowly changed his motivations. While, yes, there are a few cliched scenes that were put in there for emotional levity and drama, but they don't really take much away, if anything. This was an excellent film and we highly recommend it.

Chappie 2015

Chappie 2015 GMPN Review

GMPN Rating: 9/10
Category: Action, Adventure, Comedy

This is a great movie definitely in the style of Niell Blomkamp. However, some people might consider this a fault, as Elysium was a little off the mark. What is great about the movie is its style. They really went all out with Yolandi and Ninja (the main characters part of the musical group Die Antwoord). Hugh Jackman is pretty hilarious as a bloodthirsty war vet, selling his role pretty well. The technology in this movie is fantastic, as usual coming from Blomkamp, leaving plenty of ideas for the imagination to wonder about for the future. Of course, Chappie really makes this movie; taking something so technical and robotic, making it human in action. He really gets the feels going. I haven't laughed like that in a movie theater in a long time. Add to that the oddness of the characters influencing the development of Chappie, this movie is gangster.

Still, 9/10, super great movie.

Your Place or Mine? 2015

Your Place or Mine? 2015 GMPN Review

GMPN Rating: 7/10

Year: 2015

I decided to watch today to get my mind off work, and since Bret and Andi's team is new, I thought it would work. And somehow it did :) It's a good place for Bret to start. There maybe some loose ends as the film rolls but I don't want to make a haughty Anton Ego review on this. Overall it was a relaxing movie. I smiled when I left my seat. sabi nga ni Haley, romantic ako e. Kaya next week ko na panuorin ung comics league.
